Hyun-Woo Rhee Group Research

Rhee Group's current research focuses on live cell imaging by in-vivo protein labeling. Untill now, 18,000 different  proteins are known to be expressed in a human cell. These proteins are not evenly distributed in a cell but are very specifically localized in its targeted space to make various microenvironments by forming ultrastructures.  For mapping localized protein information at sub-cellular 'space of interest', we will develop novel protein mapping method which is based on compatible protein labeling chemistry within living cell physiology. This new method has a potential to uncover new protein components which has not been mapped by traditional protein purification methods such as co-immunoprecipitation.
