190nm-2500(3300nm option) 의 빛을 시료에 조사하여 투과 및 반사 스펙트럼을 측정하는 것으로 필름의 투과 반사율 powder 시료의 반사스펙트럼 색차 bandgap 등 다양한 용도로 사용될 수 있다. 특히 디스플레이 분야에서는 가변 각도 변환 액세서리 등을 사용하여 빛의 입사각 및 시야각에 따른 투과 반사율 측정이나 색차를 연구할 수 있으며 polarizer 등을 이용하여 retardation의 측정 등 다양한 용도로 응용분야를 확장시킬 수 있다.
푸리에 변환 적외선 분광기는 적외선 영역의 광원을 이용하여 분자 진동에 의한 IR흡수 현상을 통해 유기물, 특히 고분자 물질의 결합 구조를 파악하여 물질의 특성을 파악하는데 사용되어지는 주요 분석장비이다.
